After all, to publicly proclaim, as Catullus often did, that you are going to violently fuck another poet in the ass probably won't do much for your tenure or career.

Didn't seem to hurt the longevity of the poetry of Catullus, though, eh?

What's beautiful about these Catullus lines is that with a word he says what would take us at least a sentence to explain. A particular way of being fucked as a form of humiliation. Brilliant. The metaphor still rings true (as it was a metaphor even back in 200 bc).

Tenure or career? Doesn't matter.

btw, one of these verbs is more of a mouth fuck rather than an ass fuck. just sayin.
