Mentioned absent magazine before. Wanted to point out that this issue leads off with Dale Smith. Consistently brings joy and consternation. He does what nobody else is doing right now. He attacks my safe life. I laugh at my safe life. You are not safe. You can also find his poem, My Vote Counts (My Vote Counts is also a chapbook from effing press. The lines gnaw.) online at blazevox.
Birkbeck, Openned, and Intercapillary Space combined to bring us video of Alice Notley reading. She reads from numerous books from years apart. Birkbeck also puts out Veer. Notley has a book in there. Veer also gives some of the best translations of Baudelaire going. Sean Bonny lets you see.

The new absent is lovely. The brown issue hurt to look at. The background made the poems hard to read. This issue though, the background makes the poems easier to read. My eyes relax. I want to write on that background. It beats the hell out of the white I am typing on to now.
Went to London the other day to see Marcus and some poetry. Saw Marcus. Saw the poetry. And afterward, had many a drink with the poets. Good times over expensive beer. Was shown the way back to the train. Got there five minutes early and took the two hour ride back to Norwich. Was in bed by 2a. I know next to nothing about what is going on in poetry in Norwich. So far, I have seen little. The poetry that I have seen has been of little interest. London though is very much of interest. I think there are a few things that I could learn. Just a sampling from the other day, long line, long poems, bit of the not-exact is OK. Speed in words is good. In February I plan on having the next issue of Past Simple up. I hope to have it filled with these exciting poets. And, I need to get down to see the openned reading series as soon as possible. Check out what is online.
Today I have a sore throat. Wrote about Jack Spicer and King Arthur all morning. Happy with the progress. I am seeing the Holy Grail new.

"Levi Stubbs, 72, Powerful Voice for Four Tops, Dies"
SY and I spent many a night at Woodstock bar in Shin Chon listening to "Bernadette". I tease her that if we have a daughter, that will be her name. Just a great great voice from a wonderful time in Music.
